REVNOIR est un groupe de metalcore français créé le 1er septembre 2023 à Paris.
REVNOIR is a French metalcore band formed on September 1, 2023, in Paris.
Composé de Maxime Rodriguez Medallo (chant), Julien Ho-Tong (guitare, piano, programmation), Robin Leneutre (guitare) et Kazumasa Yamane (batterie), le groupe pose ses premières bases dès 2024 avec l'EP Revenant, six titres sortis en indépendant. Ce premier jalon attire l'attention d'Arising Empire, avec qui REVNOIR signe en octobre 2024 une licence exclusive de vingt ans, tout en conservant la propriété de ses masters.
The band: Maxime Rodriguez Medallo (vocals), Julien Ho-Tong (guitar, piano, programming), Robin Leneutre (guitar) and Kazumasa Yamane (drums), laid its first foundations in 2024 with the EP Revenant, six tracks released independently. That first milestone caught the attention of Arising Empire, with whom REVNOIR signed an exclusive twenty-year license in October 2024, while retaining ownership of its masters.
En septembre 2025 sort Coma, second EP porté par le label. En octobre 2025, REVNOIR est sacré « Révélation de l'année » aux Foudres du métal, l'équivalent français des Grammy Awards.

REVNOIR s'apprête à sortir son premier album, Sometimes I Feel You, Sometimes I Don't, prévu le 27 novembre 2026 chez Arising Empire. Le clip du single Alchemised, featuring Carpenter Brut, a été tourné en 4K à Riga sous la direction de Pāvels Trebuhins. Le groupe tournera en France et en Belgique en février 2027, en tête d'affiche.
REVNOIR is about to release its debut album, Sometimes I Feel You, Sometimes I Don't, out November 27, 2026 on Arising Empire. The video for the single Alchemised, featuring Carpenter Brut, was shot in 4K in Riga under the direction of Pāvels Trebuhins. The band will headline shows across France and Belgium in February 2027.

Depuis la formation du groupe le 1er septembre 2023 à Paris, tout s'est enchaîné vite : deux tournées européennes, deux tournées françaises, des festivals en Europe, et deux EP qui ont permis à REVNOIR de se définir. Pour ce premier album, une évidence s'impose : hors de question d'en faire un simple prolongement. Chaque chanson devait avoir sa place, l'ensemble devait raconter quelque chose de cohérent, leurs histoires, leurs vies. Un disque nourri de traumatismes, de peurs, de doutes, de colère et d'amour.
Since the band came together on September 1, 2023, in Paris, everything moved fast: two European tours, two French tours, festivals across Europe, and two EPs that let REVNOIR work out who they were as artists, as a band, and where they wanted to go. For this first album, one thing was clear from the start: no way was it going to be a simple continuation. Every song had to earn its place, and the record as a whole had to tell something coherent, their stories, their lives. An album fed by trauma, fear, doubt, anger, and love.
Mais avant que l'album ne prenne forme, le groupe a d'abord failli s'arrêter. À l'automne 2025, REVNOIR donne l'image d'un groupe en pleine ascension. En coulisses pourtant, la vitesse à laquelle tout s'était enchaîné avait fini par déborder les équilibres personnels et professionnels de chacun, au point d'envisager sérieusement la séparation. Le mantra du groupe, faire la musique qui les prend aux tripes, quelles que soient les influences, quels que soient les retours, restait intact.
But before the album could take shape, the band nearly fell apart. In the fall of 2025, REVNOIR looked, from the outside, like a band on the rise. Behind the scenes, though, the speed at which everything had unfolded had started to overwhelm everyone's personal and professional balance, to the point where splitting up was seriously on the table. The band's mantra, make the music that grabs you by the gut, whatever the influences, whatever the feedback, stayed intact, but no one was really ready for what this project had become.
En décembre 2025, avant un concert à Cologne, en Allemagne, les quatre membres restent quatre heures dans les loges à tout remettre à plat. L'écriture de l'album démarre en janvier 2026, sans certitude sur la direction à prendre, seulement l'espoir que le disque apporterait des réponses, et de la passion.
In December 2025, before a show in Cologne, Germany, the four members spent four hours in the dressing room laying everything out on the table. Writing on the album began in January 2026, with no certainty about which direction to take, only the hope that the record would bring answers, and passion.
C'est en composant et en enregistrant qu'ils se sont reconnectés. L'album s'est écrit d'une traite, en quelques mois. En écoutant la version finale, les quatre membres prennent une décision commune : se consacrer à REVNOIR à temps plein, sans plan B.
It was through writing and recording together that they reconnected. The album was written in one continuous stretch, over a few months. Listening back to the final version, the four members made a shared decision: to commit to REVNOIR full time, with no plan B.

L'album s'articule autour de deux forces qui se répondent tout au long des dix titres : l'héritage, ce qu'on reçoit sans l'avoir choisi, et la dissociation, ce qui en soi se dérobe, se dédouble.
The album is built around two forces that answer each other across all ten tracks: inheritance, what we receive without ever choosing it, and dissociation, what within ourselves slips away and splits in two.

L'album s'ouvre sur une déclaration : ce qu'on hérite n'est pas un destin. Inheritance pose la question centrale du disque avant que Red Ice et Alchemised ne viennent la compliquer, l'héritage devient un choix qu'on répète.
The album opens on a statement: what we inherit isn't destiny. Inheritance poses the record's central question before Red Ice and Alchemised come to complicate it, inheritance becomes a choice we repeat.

Crash Out → Unmake Me
Crash Out est le point de rupture. Le disque bascule du lien à l'autre vers la dissociation de soi : Far From Home, Marla, Fracture élargissent le « je » en « nous ». Unmake Me referme cet acte sur le corps lui-même.
Crash Out is the breaking point. The record shifts from the bond with another toward dissociation from the self: Far From Home, Marla, and Fracture widen "I" into "we." Unmake Me closes this act on the body itself.

Hanh → Half Gone
Hanh, unique interlude instrumental de l'album, est écrit par Julien Ho-Tong pour un proche dont la mémoire s'efface. Half Gone, morceau-titre, referme le disque sur son sens le plus personnel, une présence qui va et vient, jamais définitivement acquise ni définitivement perdue.
Hanh, the album's sole instrumental interlude, was written by Julien Ho-Tong for someone close to him whose memory is fading. Half Gone, the title track, closes the record on its most personal meaning, a presence that comes and goes, never fully held onto nor fully lost.
Sometimes I Feel You, Sometimes I Don't est un disque sur ce qu'on hérite et ce qu'on refuse d'hériter, de la famille, de l'amour, de soi-même, et sur la présence intermittente de ceux qu'on aime, qu'on ne peut ni forcer ni retenir.
Sometimes I Feel You, Sometimes I Don't is a record about what we inherit and what we refuse to inherit, from family, from love, from ourselves, and about the intermittent presence of the people we love, whom we can neither force to stay nor hold on to.

L'album a été enregistré en continu entre janvier et juillet 2026, intégralement composé chez Julien Ho-Tong, en home studio. Kazumasa Yamane co-écrit les parties de batterie ; Robin Leneutre contribue en périphérie du processus.
The album was recorded continuously between January and July 2026, written and recorded entirely at Julien Ho-Tong's home studio. Kazumasa Yamane co-writes the drum parts; Robin Leneutre contributes on the side.
Les voix sont enregistrées à distance entre Maxime et Julien via VST Connect, un plugin Cubase reliant le home studio de Maxime à Caen à la session de Julien à Paris.

Julien est fan de Carpenter Brut depuis ses débuts, assistant à tous ses concerts parisiens depuis 2012. Quand REVNOIR est sacré Révélation de l'année aux Foudres du métal en octobre 2025 et se retrouve à jouer à la télévision nationale juste avant lui, le moment prend des allures de boucle bouclée. Une conversation en coulisses plante une idée ; Carpenter Brut dit oui, et le morceau est bouclé en quelques jours. REVNOIR ne le dit pas à la légère : c'est peut-être la meilleure chose qu'ils aient faite.
Julien has been a Carpenter Brut fan since day one, catching every one of his Paris shows since 2012. When REVNOIR was named Breakthrough Act of the Year at the Foudres du Métal in October 2025 and found themselves performing on national television right before Carpenter Brut, the moment felt like it had come full circle. A brief backstage conversation planted an idea; Carpenter Brut said yes, and the track came together within days. REVNOIR doesn't say this lightly: it might be the best thing they've ever made.

Far From Home
REEBZ est une amie de longue date de Maxime, rencontrée sur les réseaux sociaux autour de la musique. Pour ce morceau, le groupe cherche une voix féminine à ses côtés, l'enregistrement suit le même principe à distance, REEBZ se connectant depuis Bristol.
REEBZ is a longtime friend of Maxime's, met through talking music on social media. For this track, the band wanted a female voice alongside Maxime, the recording follows the same remote process, with REEBZ connecting in from Bristol.
